| Biography: |
| Perhaps the most versatile Vol ever, Jones looms as UT’s go-to receiver this fall, after serving as a free safety, strong safety, nickel back, cornerback, kick returner, punter return and cover man on kicks and punts in his previous three seasons. Switched to receiver in the spring because of Vols’ lack of playmakers and quickly stamped himself as a potential standout. Caught four balls for 152 yards in the Orange & White Game, including TD plays covering 76 and 45 yards. Although he’s UT’s top receiver, he will continue to see action on defense, probably as a nickel back. 2002 - Although he started just four games (three at free safety, one at strong safety), Jones ranked among the team leaders with 55 total hits. Also broke up five passes, intercepted one, caused a fumble and recovered a fumble. He averaged 9.2 yards on punt returns and returned a kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown against Alabama. 2001 - Ranked 10th on the team with 37 total hits (28 solos, 9 assists). Also forced a fumble, broke up a pass and intercepted one, returning it 27 yards. 2000 -Moved from wide receiver to secondary following the Florida game, he recorded three tackles and an assist in limited action. |
