Biography:
Former Indiana high school standout who has transferred to Mississippi State University after two seasons at Iowa State University... Must sit out the upcoming 2002-03 season with the Bulldogs due to NCAA transfer rules and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at MSU beginning in 2003-04... Durable performer who previously starred at Andrean High School in Merrillville, Ind., prior to signing with Iowa State.

IOWA STATE
Totalled 567 points (9.1 ppg), 257 rebounds (4.1 rpg), 97 assists and 50 steals in 62 career games, while hitting 42 percent of his field goals, 36 percent of his three-pointers and 78 percent of his free throws, during his two-year collegiate stint at Iowa State... Ranked as Iowa State's third-leading scorer (13.6 ppg) and No. 3 rebounder (4.5 rpg) this past season in earning honorable mention all-Big 12 honors as selected by the league's coaches... Started all 31 games as a sophomore for the Cyclones, shooting 44 percent overall from the field, 32 percent from beyond the three-point arc and 80 percent from the free-throw line... Earned ISU's 2001-02 outstanding defensive player award after leading the team with 37 steals, while also ranking second with 73 assists... Topped the Cyclones by averaging 37.5 minutes played per game, including having played 656 of ISU's 685 minutes against league competition... Garnered second-team academic all-Big 12 honors as a sophomore... Averaged 4.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in 31 appearances as a collegiate rookie... Saw an average of 20.6 minutes played per contest in 2000-01, shooting 38 percent overall from the field, 44 percent from behind the three-point line (20-of-45 treys) and 72 percent from the charity stripe on the year... Recipient of ISU's 2000-01 Mr. Hustle Award.

HIGH SCHOOL
Four-year varsity starter and four-time all-area selection at Andrean High School in Merrillville, Ind... Two-time recipient of the Hammond Times Player of the Year honor... Helped pace coach Clint Swan's 59ers to an 81-20 composite record and three state tournament appearances... Completed his prep career as both Andrean High School's as well as the Northwest Indiana region's all-time leading scorer with 2,110 career points, which continues to stand 20th on the state of Indiana's all-time high school scoring chart... Averaged 26.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game as a prep senior to lead Andrean to a 24-3 record and runner-up finish in the 2000 Indiana Class 3A state tournament... Ranked as a finalist for Indiana's prestigious 1999-2000 Mr. Basketball Award, in addition to receiving the Arthur L. Trestor Award for Mental Attitude at the 2000 Indiana state tournament... Averaged 24.6 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals per outing as a junior in helping lead the 59ers to the 1999 Indiana Class 3A semistate title game...Averaged 21.7 points and 7.6 rebounds a game as a sophomore, along with averaging 16.7 points and 9.2 boards as a freshman.

Shane B. Power was born July 31, 1981, in Crown Point, Ind... Seeking his degree in sports communication... The son of Sharon Power... His uncle, Don Brumm, was an NFL Pro Bowl defensive lineman for the St. Louis Cardinals in the late 1960s.
