Alex Acker -- He can play the 1, but he's clearly a 2. A really, really, really good 2. Creates his own shot well, comes off screens to shoot well, is a leader on the floor. He has that "go-to guy" feel about him.
Shaun Davis -- Looks like he is digitally superimposed onto the court and his video is playing at a faster speed than the rest. He's not a natural shooter, and he'll have a hard time getting off shots at his size, so look for him to be a true PG without looking to score all that much. It's early in his career; the points will come later. Comparison: Devin Montgomery.
Yakhouba Diawara -- The most pleasant surprise. He can be a rugged, physical inside force if needed, but he clearly benefits from his European upbringing: he's as solid fundamentally as he is physically. Good ballhandler, and good instincts. No matter how good McGowan, Pinegar, and Grubb looked -- and they all did -- Diawara is going to get a bunch of minutes. Coaches and teammates call him "Kouba," and fans are bound to catch on to that. Comparison: Ronny Turiaf (not quite as tall, and w/o the crazy hair).
Chase Griffin -- does a lot of nice things, like passing and moving without the ball. Maybe a little early to expect a lot of minutes, but a future contributor. Of course he can shoot the lights out. Comparison: Mike Westphal.
Shane Griffin -- the same size as Chase, unless you count the enormous hairdo. Didn't get to see that much of him, but worked hard and contributed. Comparison: Steve Clover.
Derick Grubb -- a new man. Has evolved from typical college big man to excellent athlete with good basketball skills. Showed post-up moves and shooting range. Will be a major contributor, especially against the bigger, more physical teams.
Cody Horning -- didn't stand out too much, but that's not a bad thing. It means few mistakes. He does seem to be pushing himself a little much, as he showed frustration whenever he missed a shot. Has guard skills but needs to keep his dribble lower to the ground when guarded by little guys. Should be a solid contributor. Comparison: Well, Robert Turner.
Marvin Lea -- A very good defender. Disrupted the dribble of just about everyone who got near him. He could be a shut-down defensive player, which we'll be needing. It'll earn him some minutes. Comparison: Gary Colbert (he just looks like him -- but also the defense, and without the disruptive attitude, as best I can tell).
Glen McGowan -- It's never clear whether Glen is playing at 75% to nurse an injury or if everything just comes so easy to him that he makes it look like he isn't giving 100%. He's still the most impressive specimen to come through here in a while. He does love to take it to the hole, and when he does, he's explosive. But he'll still be called for charging a lot if he doesn't tone that down a bit.
Jesse Pinegar -- sweeeeet stroke. Smooth, effortless, and quick release, a rare combination for a guy his size. He's the prototypical BYU player ... it's nice to have a guy like that on our side for a change. Comparison: David Lalazarian (with the shot falling more often).
Robert Turner -- Coming into his own. Should be a starter for us and will probably have a breakout season. There's no telling how good he can be. Very smooth. Does everything well that he did well last year, only he does them all better. He beat everyone except Shaun Davis in every running drill without breaking a sweat.
